My hubbie and I love camping, fly fishing, and hiking around the various State Parks TX has to offer! 💖
Hello, My name is Elsy Rios. I'm a product designer based in Texas currently improving my understanding of HTML/CSS & JavaScript. Most recently, I worked at P97 Networks in Houston, TX.
Since I can remember, I have always loved creating and designing things. I could be creating music, sketching out comics, writing stories, or learning how to bake an upside-down pineapple cake 🍰 and more. I'm always eager to build something and share.
My work has stimulated my curiosity, encouraged me to remain receptive to new ideas, and inspired me to capitalize on every opportunity to learn and grow. Whether I'm weaving a user flow together, documenting inconsistencies, creating a wire-frame, contributing to a design system, or discovering pain points with an end user, I always strive to give my best and bring value to the table.
During my last year at UH (2020), I applied to the XR Showdown - a hackathon-like event that jump started my career as a UI/UX designer. The transition was exciting because I had a good foundation in graphic design, project management, and social media management, and experience with the tools needed to craft brands and websites. Along the way, I'd also taken C++, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript classes that helped me understand how web design works. I started freelancing around 2019 with the knowledge I had and helped a church and a few small businesses with branding needs.
Within an agile workflow, built and delivered prototypes via Figma, Sketch, and InVision. Reported bugs and created stories and tickets in Jira and kept track of our tasks in Trello. Created solutions that took system into account. Also collaborated with Marketing, Engineers and PM's for certain projects. Participated and conducted usability studies.
Design and deliver lo-hi wire-frames and prototypes in Figma and Adobe XD for new or current websites, landing pages, and templates for HubSpot marketplace. Also met with clients in team meetings and presented progress. Aided with social media content creation and scheduling for one of the clients. Created lots of marketing assets for different clients to use across social media and their websites.
We established the information architecture and branding of CleanPlay’s HMI for their sanitizing cabinet and their first website. Also established the IA and branding of CleanPlay's HMI for their product and launched first iteration of website. Produced and provided voice overs, graphic assets, and commercial like videos that helped represent power of product.
Coordinated script writing, video shooting, audio recording, asset production, schedule, and uploads of the first Byldr tutorial series within the HoloLens and Oculs Quest. Additionally, created quick marketing videos featuring Byldr’s strengths. Also helped overhaul Byldr's website while collaborating with SEO strategists and other team members. I've mixed the dates above because these two companies were very closely related.
UI/UX designer for different projects ranging from web design for Achilles to a mobile AR application for Houston Freedmen’s town Conservancy. Met with clients during our team meetings and also met with clients one-on-one during quick iterations of prototypes. Presented clickable prototypes, received feedback, went back and made changes and came back until we arrived at place client wanted to be at as quickly as possible.
Collaborated with team of project managers, developers, and 3D artists to create an AR mobile application that would use AI to determine where random objects in a warehouse belonged.

I got over my fear of balancing and using a skateboard. Albeit with pads - but I'm doing it! 🛹😨🛹😎🛹
Recent PR for bench press was at 125 lbs! Trying to rebuild my deadlift, biking at least 15 miles a week, running at 2 times per week, and trying to swallow less water when I'm practicing my freestyle swims 😭🏊. Maybe check out my Strava?
Along with my HTML/CSS & JavaScript journey I'm trying to understand how React works. I'll update this once I've gotten a better understanding of JavaScript, and once I make a simple app. ⚙️
It's top secret but I'm working on a comic again. 🤫
Got a project you could use some extra hands with? Drop me a line, I'm ready to build products!
